The AARP online Driver Safety Course is approved by Oregon DMV as a Motor Vehicle Accident Prevention Course pursuant to Oregon Administrative Rule (OAR) 735-014-0000 for the purposes of Oregon Revised Statute (ORS) 802.075 which states that drivers fifty-five years of age and older may be eligible for an appropriate reduction in automobile insurance premium charges after completing this course. Please check with your insurance company or agent for any additional requirements for eligibility.
The approved curriculum includes:
- Defensive driving techniques;
- Motor vehicle laws;
- Influence on driving ability of medication, fatigue, alcohol and drug use, visual and auditory limitations, and aging;
- Certificates to participants who successfully complete the course;
- A minimum of six-hours instructional time.
